BELISANA (Celtic): Goddess of healing, laughter...

Before...

After!

Belisana is a 1978 Kelly-Peterson 44.  Solid sailboats known for their seaworthiness and speed, KP44's can be seen in many ports around the world.  To read more, visit the KP44 owners group.  Here are some specs:

  • LOA:  43'10"

  • LWL: 38'8"

  • Displacement:  30,000lbs (ballast: 10,000lbs)

  • Draft:  6'4"

  • Beam:  12'11"

  • Designer:  Doug Peterson

  • Builder:  Jack Kelly

When we purchased Belisana, some TLC was needed to get her ready for cruising, but all-in-all she was in good shape - structurally sound, good sails, decent (but old) engine, clean interior.  She had been a one-owner boat for 27 years and sailed primarily off the coast of New England.

Here's a list of some of the work we have done or are in the process of doing:

ON DECK

  • new bimini with dodger and enclosure

  • new sailcover

  • new running rigging

  • new lifelines with netting

  • 2 125-watt solar panels (mounted on stanchions)

GALLEY

  • new Force 10 3-burner propane stove/oven

ELECTRONICS

  • SSB radio with modem

  • new depth sounder

ENGINE

  • rebuilt alternator

  • replaced hoses
